Statement as of 12:38 PM MST on January 9, 2009/

... Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST /7 PM MST/
this afternoon...

A lake Wind Advisory remains in effect for the Colorado River
valley from Lake Mead to Lake Havasu until 6 PM PST /7 PM MST/.

Sustained north winds of 20 to 30 mph with... gusts up to
40 mph... will continue through the afternoon then decrease
slightly this evening. The strongest winds will be in north south
channels... especially south of Hoover dam down through the
Laughlin... Bullhead City and Needles area. Wind speeds will
decrease to between 10 and 20 mph overnight... but sustained wind
speeds around 20 mph... with gusts to 30 mph... can be expected for
the same area again Saturday.

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
